The next membership meeting will be Tuesday August 12, 2008 at 7:00pm.

 

New attendance award drawing for membership meetings is now in effect. Members need to be present and have dues paid to date to claim award. Brother Lawrence Shier was drawn at the July membership meeting and was not present. The award drawing for August will be $650.00.

 

Committee and Board meetings are as follows:

Building Committee –Tuesday, August 12 at 6:00pm

Finance Committee – Tuesday, August 12 at 6:15pm

FMR Committee – Tuesday, August 12 at 4:00pm

Examining Board – Tuesday, August 5 at 4:00pm

Local 370 Annual Golf Outing – Brookwood Golf Course - August 16, 2008. Sign your team up early to help the golf committee plan the event. Forms are available at the hall.

 

Local 370 Annual Picnic – Torzewski Park, Lapeer - August 17, 2008 – 11:00am. Call the hall to sign up.

 

Congratulations to Brother Mark Teffner and wife Jackie on the birth of Madelyn Ann Teffner. Madelyn was born on August 14, 2008 at 7 pounds 3 oz and 1 foot 81/2 inches tall.

 

Condolences to the Brother Andy Goyette and the Goyette Family and friends. Andy’s father John Goyette passed away July 6, 2008. John was a previous owner of Goyette Mechanical and Certified Abatement.

 

We are now able to accept Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express for window dues. If you want to take advantage of this service there will be a $1.00 per month charge added to the monthly widow dues fee and a 3% fee for all other transactions.

TRAINING NEWS

 

The plumbing code update class will be scheduled for the fall of 2008. Information will be posted in future Building Tradesman.

 

A First Aid/CPR fall refresher is scheduled for September 16, 2008 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

 

A First Aid/CPR fall initial class has been scheduled for September 24-25, 2008 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm.

 

Please call the hall to sign up for all classes offered.

Plumbing, Mechanical and Residential Code Books are now available at the hall.  The books are $45.00 each.

 

Remember to keep your dues current. Any member failing to pay for 3 months shall stand suspended, unable to vote for a period of 1 year or run for office for a period of 2 years and subject to a $50.00 reinstatement fee. Dues must be paid in 3-month increments according to our bylaws. Dues will be accepted up to 6:45 on union meeting nights.

 

Members wishing to take the U.A. welding certification test contact business agent, Bob Ranger Jr. for application and testing dates.

 

Local 370 100th anniversary Tee shirts, ball caps and winter fleece caps are available at the union offices. Commemorative knife $10.00, Ball caps $8.00, 100th anniversary fleece caps $8.00 and tee shirts $5.00. We also have 4 styles of coats available for spring and winter wear.
